Q: How do we carry out the Balance Shifts step?

A: Every time an active player finishes their actions and (possibly) refills any empty slots in their hand, and before you move the suspect, observe the clue cards in all players hands and count the number of Distractions visible. Move the arrow token that many spaces in the direction it is currently facing. In the example below, there are 2 Distractions showing, so you will move the arrow token 2 spaces to the right, from number 1 to number 3.

Remember, if the arrow token moves beyond the 3 space on either side, the case ends immediately.

Q: Can I use the Private Investigator to look at the back of clue cards in the discard area?

A: No. Items in the discard area are considered out of play and thus not accessible unless specifically stated by an action or ability.
